
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the Maldives is prepared to act as a mediator to resolve the ongoing deadlock within SAARC, which has been stalled due to tensions between India and Pakistan. Speaking at the official ceremony held to mark Independence Day, the President emphasized the importance of setting aside differences and returning to the negotiating table to ensure regional peace and development. Furthermore, he highlighted that the Maldives’ foreign policy prioritizes fostering close ties with Islamic and Arab nations. The President reaffirmed the Maldives’ steadfast advocacy against the atrocities committed against the Palestinian people, asserting that the country will maintain diplomatic relations with all nations except Israel. He also reiterated the administration’s firm stance on the decision to ban Israeli passports.
