Voting Commences at All Polling Stations in Addu City

Voting has officially commenced as scheduled across all polling stations in Addu City. A total of 23 ballot boxes have been stationed throughout the city for this election. The highest number of ballot boxes is located in Hithadhoo, where 13 boxes have been placed. This includes 12 boxes designated for the residents of Hithadhoo and one additional box for residents from other islands or constituencies currently residing there. Records indicate that 8,786 eligible voters are registered in Hithadhoo, along with 568 registered voters from other constituencies.

The distribution of ballot boxes in Hithadhoo is as follows:

  • Addu City Hithadhoo School: 5 ballot boxes
  • Addu City Nooranee School: 4 ballot boxes
  • Addu City Sharafuddin School: 2 ballot boxes
  • Addu City, Addu High School: 2 ballot boxes

In Maradhoo, 3 ballot boxes have been stationed across two schools:

  • Addu City, Maradhoo School: 2 ballot boxes
  • Addu City, Irushadiyya School: 1 ballot box

A total of 1,968 individuals are registered to vote in Maradhoo. Additionally, in Maradhoo-Feydhoo, two ballot boxes have been set up at the IUM Campus for the local residents, where 954 voters are registered. Feydhoo hosts the second-largest number of ballot boxes in Addu City, with a total of 5 boxes, all situated at Feydhoo School. There are 2,917 registered voters in Feydhoo.

Voting for today’s election will proceed from 08:00 hrs to 16:00 hrs. To cast a vote, individuals must present one of four valid identification documents: a Maldivian National Identity Card, a Maldivian Passport, a Driving License, or a Passport Card. It is mandatory that these documents are original, valid (not expired), and contain a clear photograph with legible personal details. Please note that digital copies or printed versions of these identification documents will not be accepted for voting purposes.
