The final segment of the Thilamale Bridge connecting Male’ and Villingili is scheduled to be joined this morning, with a special ceremony organized to mark the occasion. While this milestone completes the primary structure of this section, the bridge will be opened for public transit only after the completion of finishing works, including the installation of railings and lighting systems.
This large-scale infrastructure project, valued at USD 500 million (over MVR 7 billion), is being executed by Afcons Infrastructure with financial assistance from India and the cooperation of the Maldivian government. In addition to the 6.7-kilometer connectivity link between Male’, Villingili, Gulhifalhu, and Thilafushi, related works such as the development of roads in Gulhifalhu and the installation of revetments in Thilafushi are also progressing rapidly.
