In the recently concluded local council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) by-elections, the People’s National Congress (PNC) secured a clean sweep of all contested seats in AA. Rasdhoo. This outcome marks a significant setback for the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), which had maintained a solid majority in the island for the past 18 years. According to the provisional results released by the Elections Commission, PNC candidates successfully won the presidency of the council, the vacant council seats, and all positions on the Women’s Development Committee.
