Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mohamed Saeed, has stated that efforts to promote investment opportunities in the Maldives have been substantially strengthened. Highlighting the Maldives-Lanka Investment Forum held during the President’s official visit to Sri Lanka, the Minister described the event as highly successful, noting that 80 percent of the more than 3,000 participants were international investors.
The primary objective of such forums is to establish the Maldives as a more investor-friendly destination and to foster strategic investment growth. Furthermore, the government aims to transform the existing trade relationship with Sri Lanka into a mutually beneficial partnership, while also creating avenues for Maldivian entrepreneurs to explore business prospects in Sri Lanka. During the forum, comprehensive information regarding investment potential in key sectors, including tourism and agriculture, was shared with prospective investors.
