Ooredoo Maldives has announced that no additional fees will be charged for transferring funds from PayPal to its m-Faisaa digital wallet. Following the official introduction of PayPal services in the Maldives on the 15th of this month, the company clarified that customers are only required to pay the standard PayPal transaction fees. Ooredoo emphasized its commitment to facilitating these transfers without any added costs, ensuring that users can receive payments from international clients, customers, and family members through a transparent and clear pricing structure.
When receiving funds via PayPal, a fee of USD 1.50 plus 2% of the total transaction amount is applied.
Example:
- Funds Received:Â USD 100.00
- PayPal Fee:Â USD 3.50
- Net Amount Received:Â USD 96.50
The Importance of Transparent Pricing
One of the primary concerns for freelancers, entrepreneurs, and individuals receiving international payments is understanding the exact amount they will receive after deductions. By maintaining a simple and transparent fee structure, customers can accurately track their earnings and manage their finances more effectively. Ooredoo noted that for freelancers working with international clients, this clarity provides greater confidence in pricing their services and entering into agreements. Furthermore, it fosters increased trust for small businesses and independent workers when engaging with customers in the global market.
Empowering Economic Participation
Accessing international payments is more than just a convenience; it represents a significant opportunity for Maldivians to participate more actively in the global digital economy. Whether it is a graphic designer working for international clients, a software developer providing remote services, a content creator earning online, or a family receiving support from abroad, international payment services bridge the gap between Maldivians and opportunities beyond national borders.
A Customer-Centric Approach
Ooredoo highlighted that the current arrangement reflects its focus on making international payments easily accessible to customers. By waiving additional transfer fees at this stage, the company is helping to reduce barriers for individuals and businesses seeking to enter international markets and generate foreign income. As digital commerce continues to evolve, affordable and transparent payment services will play a crucial role in increasing economic participation, supporting self-employment, and bringing more foreign currency into the Maldives through digital platforms.
For many Maldivians, the ability to transfer PayPal funds directly to their m-Faisaa wallet opens doors to new possibilities, global customers, and a more interconnected digital future.
