As part of the government’s strategic initiatives to enhance the operational efficiency of State-Owned Enterprises, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced the decision to transition Agro National Corporation (AgroNet) into a subsidiary of the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO). This strategic realignment is expected to facilitate the expansion of AgroNet’s commercial operations, thereby strengthening national food security and fostering the advancement of the agricultural sector. Furthermore, the management of the newly developed market in Malé, dedicated to the sale of agricultural and fisheries products, will be mandated to MIFCO. The President noted that the construction of this facility is projected for completion by December of the upcoming year.
