Meekail Ahmed Naseem, a candidate for the MDP Chairpersonship, has stated that the general members of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) are not obligated to seek forgiveness from former President Mohamed Nasheed or any other individual. Highlighting that all the honors and privileges currently enjoyed by the party leadership are the direct result of the immense sacrifices made by the general membership, Meekail noted that it was these members who brought both President Nasheed and President Solih to power. He further defended the members by asserting that even though they were sidelined for political expediency in 2023, they have committed no act for which they should be held accountable or feel indebted to anyone.
