As part of its ongoing fleet modernization initiative, the national carrier, Maldivian, has retired its Dash-8 aircraft, “Sierra,” after 14 years of service and dispatched it to Canada. These aging aircraft are being replaced by state-of-the-art ATR models, which are recognized for their superior fuel efficiency and environmental sustainability.
The airline anticipates that this transition will significantly enhance the overall passenger experience and service quality. Furthermore, Maldivian is scheduled to incorporate two additional ATR aircraft into its fleet in the coming months.
