The government has decided to relocate the construction site for one of the towers within the 300-unit housing project in Villimale to the area near the STELCO site. This decision was made to ensure environmental conservation by protecting the mature trees in the vicinity, particularly the “Funavalu” area, from being felled.

The project, which consists of three 17-story towers, has been contracted to Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) and is scheduled for completion by mid-2028. This initiative is part of a larger housing development project managed by a subsidiary of the Bank of Maldives, which aims to provide a total of 3,260 housing units across Villimale and Hulhumale.
