Former President Mohamed Nasheed has stated that a change of government will be orchestrated before the end of this year by securing a two-thirds majority in the People’s Majlis. Speaking at a campaign event for the Hithadhoo North constituency by-election, Nasheed asserted that a significant number of members from the ruling PNC, which currently holds the parliamentary majority, will defect from their party. He further noted that former President Yameen is also prepared to support this endeavor. Additionally, while criticizing the government’s proposed amendments to the decentralization system, Nasheed emphasized that the efforts to bring about a change in administration are being pursued with the utmost seriousness.
