Bank of Maldives (BML) has clarified that although limits have been introduced on foreign e-commerce transactions conducted via Maldivian Rufiyaa cards, standard recurring subscription payments are excluded from these restrictions. Addressing concerns regarding the cancellation of certain subscriptions following the adjustments necessitated by the dollar shortage, the bank explained that these disruptions are primarily due to some merchants rejecting the processed payments. BML further assured that they are actively working to resolve these issues.
The bank has encouraged customers to report any difficulties encountered with such payments. Additionally, the President has stated that some of these transaction limits are expected to be eased starting from the end of this month.
