The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, has announced that efforts are underway to draft a dedicated piece of legislation aimed at providing a permanent solution to issues of negligence within Hajj and Umrah service delivery. The primary objective of this proposed Act is to clearly define the roles and responsibilities of service providers and establish a robust mechanism for penalizing those who fail to meet their obligations. This legal framework is designed to safeguard the financial interests and fundamental rights of the public.
The Minister further highlighted that while these services are currently governed by existing regulations and guidelines, transitioning to a formal statutory framework will significantly enhance accountability and strengthen public confidence in the administrative system of Hajj and Umrah.
