During an official visit to the Maldives, Indonesia’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Muhammad Anis Matta, met with the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, to hold high-level discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation. The meeting focused on key areas of mutual interest, particularly the development of Waqf funds and the professional training and capacity building of Imams and Khateebs.
During the discussions, both parties explored strategic avenues to enhance Islamic ties between the two nations. As part of his visit, the Vice Minister also toured the Islamic Centre and the historic Malé Friday Mosque. Furthermore, he engaged with senior officials from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs to gain a comprehensive understanding of the ministry’s ongoing projects and its mandate in promoting Islamic values.
