
Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mohamed Saeed, has stated that the volume of US Dollars issued at the official exchange rate has multiplied significantly compared to previous years. He noted that since 2021, monthly dollar allocations for bank cards have surged from $10 million to $39 million, while funds released for import-related Telegraphic Transfers (TTs) have increased from $6.7 million to $26.6 million. Furthermore, there has been a substantial rise in the availability of dollars at the official rate for higher education, medical expenses, and outbound travel. The Minister further clarified that opposition claims regarding a halt in dollar transactions are baseless and factually incorrect.
