
Minister Mohamed Ameen has assured that the government is committed to creating a favorable environment for the further development of the tourism industry. Speaking at the “Maldives Tourism Intelligence Quarterly Briefing,” the Minister stated that the primary objective of the upcoming Year of Tourism is to expand the Maldives’ tourism sector and create new socio-economic opportunities for its citizens.
Highlighting statistical data that reflects the growing popularity of the Maldives as a premier destination, the Minister noted that 85% of visiting tourists expressed a desire to return. He further observed that the industry is successfully recovering from travel disruptions caused by conflicts in the Middle East. Additionally, he emphasized efforts to penetrate new markets, noting that the national airline has recently commenced operations to Australia. The Minister concluded by asserting that the success of these initiatives depends on the collective cooperation and synergy of all industry stakeholders.
