Mohamed Shakeel has resigned from his position as the Managing Director of the Maldives Hajj Corporation, following the People’s Majlis’ approval of his appointment to the vacant seat at the Elections Commission. Shakeel’s appointment to the Commission was confirmed to fill the vacancy left by the expiration of the term of the former Chairperson, Fuwad Thowfeek. Having previously served as a member and Director General of the Elections Commission, Shakeel assumed the role of Managing Director at the Hajj Corporation in November 2023. The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) has now formally accepted his resignation and processed his removal from the post.
