Of the 1.2 million tourists who have visited the Maldives so far this year, approximately 73%—exceeding 900,000 visitors—chose to spend their holidays in resorts. According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, the 179 resorts currently in operation account for 67% of the nation’s total tourist bed capacity.

In addition to resort stays, over 270,000 tourists opted for guesthouses, while a significant number of visitors also sought accommodation in hotels and safari vessels. Although July recorded a strong performance in the tourism sector, there was a marginal decline compared to the same period last year. Currently, the Maldives welcomes an average of 5,924 tourists per day.
