The People’s National Congress (PNC) achieved a landslide victory in Saturday’s local council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections held in B. Kendhoo, securing every single seat. In a significant blow to the opposition in Member of Parliament Mauroof Zakir’s home island, the PNC candidate, Ahmed Shaan, was elected as the Council President with a substantial majority over the MDP contender. Furthermore, PNC candidates successfully secured all remaining council seats and all positions within the Women’s Development Committee.
