Aishath Abdul Qaadhir, representing the People’s National Congress (PNC), has secured the Dadimagu constituency seat in the Fuvahmulah City Council following the local council elections held last Saturday. She won the seat by a narrow margin of just two votes over her independent opponent. While the initial provisional results released by the Elections Commission had suggested a victory for the independent candidate, the final count confirmed the PNC candidate’s win.

In the same election, the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) achieved a significant majority by securing the remaining eight seats of the Fuvahmulah City Council. Regarding the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections, MDP claimed seven seats, while the PNC and an independent candidate each secured one seat.
