The ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) has achieved a clean sweep in the elections for the Sh. Funadhoo Island Council and its Women’s Development Committee (WDC). According to the provisional results released by the Elections Commission, the PNC secured all 10 seats up for grabs, including 5 Council seats and 5 WDC seats. The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) failed to win any seats in Funadhoo during this election. While the PNC demonstrated strong performance across the country, the MDP maintained its majority in five major cities, including the capital, Malé.
