“The People’s National Congress (PNC) celebrated a significant victory in the recent AA. Ukulhas Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections. The event, held in a traditional Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) stronghold, featured a spectacular fireworks display and a special banquet. The ceremony was attended by Minister Abdulla Rafiu alongside the newly elected members.
In a notable shift in the local political landscape, PNC’s Ali Waheed secured the Council Presidency, defeating the MDP candidate who had served in the role for three consecutive terms. Furthermore, PNC candidates successfully captured the council member seat, the dedicated female council seat, and the majority of the seats on the Women’s Development Committee.”
