Out of the 879,154 tourists who have visited the Maldives so far this year, the vast majority chose resorts for their stay. This accounts for over 600,000 visitors, representing 70.4 percent of the total arrivals. Guesthouses ranked as the second most popular accommodation choice, followed by significant numbers of tourists staying in hotels and safari vessels.
The leading source markets for tourism this year are China, Russia, and the United Kingdom. While most visitors arrived in the Maldives by air, Velana International Airport remains the primary gateway. Furthermore, tourists also arrived through Gan, Maafaru, Hanimadhoo, Maamigili, and Dhaalu airports.
