The Minister of Housing, Land, and Urban Development, Dr. Abdulla Muttalib, has stated that holding presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously is crucial for minimizing time lost to political instability and accelerating the delivery of services to the public. The Minister noted that an outgoing parliament, nearing the end of its term during a change of administration, often makes decisions without considering the new government’s agenda, thereby creating significant obstacles to project implementation. He specifically highlighted that the budget formulated by the previous administration caused delays in the current government’s first-year initiatives, ultimately impacting the citizens. Therefore, the Minister emphasized that the proposed constitutional amendment would help bypass political friction and hurdles, ensuring the seamless progress of housing and developmental projects.
