
The Ministry of Housing has officially published the detailed regulations governing the relinquishment of previously allocated land plots or flats when applying for new housing units in the Greater Male’ Area. Under these regulations, individuals may transfer their ownership of land or flats to parents, children, spouses, or siblings without any financial charges.
Furthermore, the policy specifies that in certain circumstances where land or flats must be surrendered to the State, the property must be restored to its original condition at the time of handover. If a flat is being relinquished, the Ministry must be notified within 30 days of the restoration. These regulations are applicable across the Male’ region, including Male’, Hulhumale’, Villingili, Thilafushi, Gulhifalhu, Giraavarufalhu, and Uthuru Thila Falhu.
