The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mohamed Ameen, has stated that the government’s efforts to overcome the challenges faced by the Maldives’ aviation sector, due to the ongoing unrest in the Middle East, are yielding positive results. The Minister highlighted that the capacity of Air India, Aeroflot, and Air Asia has been enhanced, and major Middle Eastern airlines are currently operating two daily flights to the Maldives. Furthermore, he noted that Qatar Airways is set to resume its scheduled operations in April, while preparations are also underway for Belarus’s Belavia airline to commence flights. As a result of these initiatives, flight booking loads have significantly increased from 50% to 75%.
