The administration has officially established the secretariats for the Addu Meedhoo and Addu Hulhudhoo councils. In a statement released by the President’s Office, it was announced that separate island council secretariats have been created for both “Addu Meedhoo” and “Addu Hulhudhoo.”
Furthermore, the islands of Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo, and Feydhoo have been designated as a single administrative entity under the name “Addu City.” Consequently, the Secretariat of the Addu City Council has been restructured to reflect this change. Along with these administrative adjustments, the President’s Office has also publicized the official English nomenclature for the “Secretariat of the Addu Atoll Meedhoo Council” and the “Secretariat of the Addu Atoll Hulhudhoo Council.”
The President’s Office further specified that for official government correspondence, the reference code for the Secretariat of the Addu Atoll Meedhoo Council will be 1140, while the Secretariat of the Addu Atoll Hulhudhoo Council will be assigned the code 1141. According to the President’s Office, these decisions have been made in accordance with the legal framework, which mandates the dissolution of existing councils once the newly elected members from the upcoming local council elections assume their respective offices.
