The State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply Corporation has initiated efforts to supply a complete range of antibiotics in the Maldives, as part of a strategic move to address the growing concern of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Managing Director Dr. Shah Mahir stated that the corporation’s primary focus is to ensure the uninterrupted supply of approximately 1,200 essential medicines. Furthermore, collaborative efforts are ongoing with hospitals and health centers across various islands to identify regional medicinal requirements. This initiative aims to streamline the availability of prescribed medications, thereby minimizing medicinal waste and significantly enhancing the quality of patient care nationwide.
