The Minister of Islamic Affairs and the Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) have engaged in discussions concerning the project to construct a grand mosque between Hulhumalé Phase 2 and Phase 3. Supported by the Al-Rajhi Company of Saudi Arabia, the physical works for this project are scheduled to commence in conjunction with the celebrations marking the 900th anniversary of the Maldives embracing Islam.

Designed to accommodate 10,000 worshippers, the mosque will be developed as an extensive complex featuring Waqf structures, commercial buildings, parking facilities, and a Quran Museum. Currently, the detailed design of the mosque is being formulated with the assistance of international experts. The entire project is being funded by the donor responsible for the mosque’s construction.
