The Parliament’s General Purposes Committee has scheduled a meeting for this afternoon to determine the duration of the debate and the time allocated for defense regarding the no-confidence motion against the Deputy Speaker of the People’s Majlis, Ahmed Nazim.
The resolution, submitted with the signatures of 73 members from the PNC, includes allegations against Nazim such as abusing his official position for undue advantage, inciting the disruption of parliamentary interests, and neglecting his official responsibilities. Furthermore, the resolution asserts that Nazim has demonstrated bias and obstructed the protection of members’ rights.
According to the parliamentary rules of procedure, the Deputy Speaker can be removed from office by a majority vote of the members present and voting. With the PNC holding a significant majority in the Parliament, the party has already decided to proceed with his dismissal.
