China has emerged as the leading source market for tourism in the Maldives so far this year. With over 90,000 arrivals, Chinese tourists account for 15.2% of the total market share. To date, the Maldives has welcomed more than 600,000 tourists in total, representing a 6.5% increase compared to the same period last year.
In addition to China, the top source markets include Russia, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany. While the majority of tourists choose to spend their holidays in resorts, there are currently 1,292 registered tourist establishments providing services across the Maldives.
