The sheet piling work for the first phase of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project in Malé is now 66 percent complete. This project, executed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), covers a 700-meter stretch extending from the Official Jetty to the Henveiru Ferry Terminal. Alongside these efforts, work on road widening and the enhancement of water and sewerage systems is progressing at an accelerated pace.
Preparations are currently underway to commence the concrete capping of the quay wall next week, while the asphalt laying for the entire area is scheduled to begin in June. Under the new design, the road will be widened to 6 meters and will include a dedicated parking zone with a capacity for 500 motorcycles. This infrastructure project is expected to significantly alleviate traffic congestion along the northern waterfront of Malé.
