The Ministry of Finance has instructed government ministries to incorporate a total of MVR 2.5 billion into the budget for new projects spanning from 2027 to 2029. Out of this allocation, MVR 2 billion is designated for infrastructure development, while the remaining MVR 500 million is earmarked for other developmental initiatives.
The ministries are required to submit their project proposals by August 18. These projects must align with the government’s manifesto and the pledges made by the President. Furthermore, the Ministry of Finance has decided that the budget for the upcoming three years will prioritize gender equality, social inclusion, and climate change resilience.
