The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has announced the disbursement of MVR 11.3 million to fishing vessels for 568 metric tons of fish weighed in during the month of June. Throughout this period, a total of 517 vessels, including those engaged in skipjack and yellowfin tuna fisheries, successfully processed their catch through the company.
Ensuring timely compensation for fishermen remains a cornerstone of the current administration’s policy, with a focused commitment to settling payments within a 48-hour window. Furthermore, as part of ongoing efforts to guarantee fair market value for the local fishing community, the purchase price of fish has been strategically adjusted, currently ranging between MVR 20 and MVR 25.
