The Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development has extended the opportunity for registered guardians of persons with disabilities to apply for social housing. This provision specifically applies to minors under the age of 18 and individuals whose disabilities prevent them from completing the application process independently. Guardians must be registered with the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) to be eligible. The application window for this category will remain open until the 15th of next month.
To qualify under this category, applicants must have been residents of the Greater Malé Area for a minimum of five years. Additionally, individuals who have resided in Malé for the past year to seek medical treatments unavailable in their home islands are also eligible to apply. While the deadline for other government housing schemes is set for the end of this month, the government has specifically extended the timeframe for the persons with disabilities category to ensure inclusive access to the program.
