The state-owned enterprise, State Pharmaceuticals, has officially opened its inaugural pharmacy, “StatePharma IGMH Pharmacy,” located at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital. Operating 24 hours a day, this pharmacy is designed to provide essential medications and facilitate the procurement of specialized prescriptions from international sources.
The primary objective of the company is to ensure the sustainable and reliable supply of pharmaceuticals across all inhabited islands of the Maldives. In line with this vision, the management of pharmacies currently under the State Trading Organization (STO) will be transitioned to State Pharmaceuticals starting this July. Furthermore, the company plans to implement a comprehensive digital stock management system across all its outlets by the end of October. To assist the public with pharmaceutical inquiries, a dedicated hotline has also been established at 1505.
