
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Iruthisham Adam, has stated that the commencement of direct flights between Melbourne, Australia, and the Maldives by the national airline, Maldivian, marks a significant milestone in strengthening diplomatic and commercial ties between the two nations. The Minister noted that this development will foster growth in tourism and cultural exchange. Highlighting that this initiative was launched under the guidance of the President, she emphasized that these flights will enhance travel convenience and generate substantial economic benefits. The service, scheduled for one flight per week, saw its inaugural flight arrive in the Maldives with 240 tourists.
