As part of the government’s health policy, Dharumavantha Hospital and Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) have officially commenced general surgery services using state-of-the-art laser technology. Launched on the 17th of this month, the new service covers four types of procedures, including treatments for varicose veins and hemorrhoids.
This advanced medical intervention offers significant benefits, such as minimally invasive procedures that eliminate the need for large incisions, reduced post-operative pain, faster recovery times, and shorter hospital stays. To ensure the successful implementation of this service, necessary equipment has been acquired, and a team of doctors and nurses from IGMH have undergone specialized training at hospitals in India.
This initiative reflects the high priority given by the President to modernizing the Maldives’ healthcare system and providing patients with more efficient and convenient treatment options.
