The Ministry of Health, Family, and Welfare is working to inaugurate the “Empowerment Hub” in Hulhumalé Phase 2 this July, a facility dedicated to the skill development of persons with disabilities. Funded by the Zakat Fund, this center aims to provide vocational training and employment opportunities for school leavers in various fields, including culinary arts, information technology, and retail.
Designed for full accessibility, the hub will feature a retail outlet to showcase and sell products made by persons with disabilities, a specialized sensory room, and dedicated spaces for civil society organizations. This initiative marks the establishment of the Maldives’ first integrated center providing a wide range of essential services for the disabled community under a single roof.
