The Ministry of Education has commenced efforts to provide necessary equipment and facilitate arrangements to ensure that teaching activities at the GA. Atoll Education Centre continue without interruption. This follows a major fire incident that occurred late Thursday night at the school. The fire resulted in the destruction of the primary teachers’ staffroom, the printing room, and one classroom.
A team from the Ministry of Education arrived on the island within 24 hours of the incident to assess the extent of the damage. To facilitate the resumption of classes, essential supplies are being dispatched and logistical arrangements are being finalized.
As part of these efforts, 10 computer systems, 3 printers, and 15 boxes of textbooks have been sent to the school via air cargo. The Ministry continues to closely monitor the school’s situation. Reports indicate that the fire originated from an air conditioning unit in the staffroom. No injuries were reported in connection with this incident.
