
Statistics released by the Maldives Customs Service reveal that 324 kilograms of illicit drugs were seized over the past two and a half years. This indicates an increase of 77 kilograms compared to the 247 kilograms intercepted between 2021 and 2023.
Furthermore, the number of drug-related cases has risen from 116 to 147, marking a 27 percent increase. Customs officials highlighted that their collaborative efforts with other law enforcement agencies to intercept narcotics smuggled via sea and air routes are yielding significant success.
