Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Ahmed Shiyam, has announced that with the establishment of a fuel station in Meemu Atoll following the upcoming Eid holidays, a streamlined fuel distribution network will be completed across all fishing regions in the Maldives. The government aims to provide fuel to fishermen at affordable rates through the State Trading Organization (STO). Despite the rising global fuel prices, the government has already expanded this service to nine additional regions, providing over 2.5 million liters of fuel to alleviate the burden on fishermen. The commencement of fuel services in Meemu Atoll will mark the fulfillment of the President’s pledge to provide a permanent solution to fuel accessibility for all fishing communities.
