Voting for the Hithadhoo North constituency by-election of the People’s Majlis has officially begun today, with polling stations scheduled to remain open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A total of 4,121 individuals are eligible to cast their ballots in this election.
To facilitate the voting process, seven polling stations have been established: two located at Dharumavantha School in Malé and five at Hithadhoo School. Voters are reminded that only a valid official identification document and a blue ink pen are permitted inside the polling centers.
The election features a contest between Ahmed Saeed, representing the People’s National Congress (PNC), and Abdulla Sodiq, representing the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). This by-election was necessitated following a Supreme Court ruling that disqualified the former Member of Parliament, Mohamed Sinan, due to an outstanding proven debt, which rendered him ineligible to hold office.
