The President of the Elections Commission, Mohamed Zahid, has stated that participation in today’s Local Council Elections, Women’s Development Committee Elections, and the public referendum is entirely voluntary. Arrangements have been made to allow voters who choose not to participate in a specific vote to decline the corresponding ballot paper upon notification. In such instances, the presiding officials will announce the decision clearly to observers, and the matter will be formally documented in the incident report. The EC President further noted that this procedure remains consistent with the protocols followed in previous elections.
