The Member of Parliament for Maafushi constituency, Hussain Riza Adam, has stated that managing the administrative affairs of the judiciary under a Judicial Council would be more effective than the current oversight provided by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC). He highlighted that given the specialized nature of judicial work, judges themselves possess the most profound understanding of the sector’s requirements. Furthermore, Riza noted that tasking a council—comprised of the Chief Justice and judges from various court hierarchies—with the formulation of administrative policies and management would minimize the political influence currently experienced through the JSC, thereby ensuring the independence of the judiciary.
