To address the shortage of Imams and Khatheebs in the islands of the Maldives, the government launched a specialized program in 2024 for school-leavers and youth under the age of 18. Under this initiative, more than 700 young Khatheebs have been trained to date. While the government aims to train 1,000 Khatheebs during the current term, most participants in this program are high-achieving students and Hafizs who have memorized the Holy Quran. Participants at the National Conference of Young Khatheebs expressed their joy, noting that this opportunity has earned them community recognition and instilled vital life values, such as exemplary discipline and punctuality.
