In this year’s Presidential Address, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced that the development of the skating arena in the Usfasgandu area of MalĂ© is scheduled for completion and will officially open this coming March. Highlighting this as a significant milestone for the advancement of the sport in the Maldives, the President detailed that the facility will feature both a speed skating track and a dedicated skateboard park. This project, executed under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of RCC, is being developed to standards capable of hosting regional competitions. Although skating has been a popular activity in the Maldives since the 1980s, this marks the first time such a specialized facility is being established in the country.
