In his message commemorating the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the President characterized the issue as a profound threat to national security. He underscored that the government’s primary objectives include ensuring that drug traffickers are held accountable through appropriate legal penalties and establishing comprehensive rehabilitation and treatment facilities across various regions of the Maldives for those struggling with addiction. Furthermore, the President called for a collective effort from families, non-governmental organizations, and private individuals to work together in safeguarding the community from this menace.
