Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, has stated that the full impact of the police’s efforts to curb drug trafficking will become evident by next year. Addressing the ceremony marking the 93rd anniversary of the Maldives Police Service, the Minister noted that gang-related crimes have been effectively brought under control. He further detailed that a specialized policy would be implemented in the coming year to rehabilitate and reintegrate individuals involved in criminal activities back into society.
Furthermore, the Minister assured that the government remains committed to equipping the police with the necessary technology and resources to combat modern challenges such as cybercrime. He also highlighted plans to expand police services by establishing stations across all islands within the current presidential term.
