Mariyam Shiuna, the Chief Operating Officer of the Pension Office, has emphasized that a robust governance framework is vital for the sustainable provision of social security. Addressing a seminar organized by the International Social Security Association (ISSA), Shiuna highlighted that the decisions made by institutions providing social protection, such as pension funds, carry long-term implications for future generations.
Consequently, she asserted that a solid legal foundation, coupled with transparent and accountable management, is necessary to ensure these systems remain resilient despite political transitions. During the seminar, regional experts are scheduled to deliberate and share insights regarding the challenges of aging populations and prevailing economic pressures.
